UDI Issuing Agencies

The FDA ruling does not specify a single identifying system for UDI compliance nor dictate a single barcode symbology. The FDA has accredited specific agencies to issue UDI identifiers. The respective type of barcode used for the UDI identifier is based by the issuing organization.
